 Amazon.com MP3s
Did you know that Amazon.com offers FREE music for downloading? From "Blockbuster Tracks" to "New and Notable" and "Digital Discoveries," there is a whole section devoted to exposing new music to fans from a wide range of artists.
Why is this worth mentioning on Adtunes.com? There are, at least, two good songs you've heard in TV ads available to download.
The new Holiday USPS ad shows a postal worker carrying packages through the snow and delivering them while the Woody Guthrie song "Mail Myself to You" (covered by John McCutcheon in the ad) plays in the background. You can get the version heard in the ad as a FREE MP3, or you can find the original on the Guthrie CD, " This Land is Your Land."
An old ad that continues to get air time, the Holland America Cruise Lines ad features the breathy song "Edge of the Ocean" by the group Ivy. Another great FREE download, also found on the Ivy album " Long Distance."

 American Eagle Outfitters Holiday
American Eagle Outfitters new "Holidays" TV ad celebrates with a typical family holiday gathering. (That is, if your family consists entirely of attractive, well-dressed twenty-something fashion models.) The ad is shot with an animated still-snapshots effect moving from scene to scene by entering and exiting picture frames. We see the "family" gathered around the dinner table, hugging one another and snow falling outside through the windows. The song featured is " All Dressed Up In Dreams" by the 6ths, off the album " Wasps' Nest."
The 6ths is just one of many side projects by writer/producer Stephin Merritt, more notably well-known for his work with The Magnetic Fields, who typically recruits other singers to contribute to the vocals on his albums. For instance, the vocalist singing on "All Dressed Up In Dreams" is Helium frontwoman Mary Timony. Merritt's latest release is the soundtrack to the film PIECES OF APRIL starring Katie Holmes.

 Hey Ya Celebrity Poker!
Popular music doesn't get a chance to be forgotten with the current trend of quick turnaround of music used in commercials. Outkast's new double-disc CD, " Speakerboxxx/The Love Below," has been on store shelves for just one month, and the hit single "Hey Ya" has already made the transition to being featured in a TV commercial for Bravo TV's latest reality show Celebrity Poker Showdown. The show, featuring big names like Ben Affleck and David Schwimmer, puts celebrities against one another in a " No Limit Texas Hold-em" poker game for a piece of the $250,000 prize pool going to their selected charity.

 Levi's Wild Rides
Levi's website is one of the few smart enough to include information on their TV commercials. Two of their ads are featured: "Car" and "Stampede".
In " Car" a vehicle is driving through a town's dirt roads and a young man spots it. He lassos the car and jumps on for a ride, which leads him to the local rodeo. He tames the beast and is able to open the door and drive away. The music heard is " Crazy Beat" by Blur.
" Stampede" shows a couple standing in the middle of an empty street, albeit a herd of bison running at them, and they endure the rush as the stampede passes them. The song heard in this ad is called "Fresh Def Fly" and was done by DJ Promo. It is based on the Residents' song "Rest Aria," from their album " Meet the Residents."

 Budweiser: True Music
Budweiser's True Music online campaign celebrates live music by featuring up and coming artists on their website.
