HP launched a campaign this month to "inspire people to see the picture in everything." The emphasis is making digital photography easy for anyone, from children to amateur photographers. The television ad features the song "Pictures of You" by The Cure, and shows a variety of scenes throughout city streets of people taking photographs.
This month Nintendo released a unique movie theater and television ad campaign. The cinema ad, "School's Out," features young children leaving school and running, ala Super Mario fashion, to the store to buy the latest Nintendo creation. Television ads are the same, just shorter versions, and are hyping the lastest Game Boy Advance game -- Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3.
The music heard in the ads is by Japanese artist, Mayumi Kojima. The song is called "Hatsukoi" and is on the albums "Songs for the Gentlemen" and "Me and My Monkey on the Moon," both currently unavailable in the U.S. (Via the very resourceful Forums!)
The tv ad for the Nokia 3300 shows a boy walking down a grocery store aisle yelling "Hey!" along to the music coming from his MP3-playing cell phone. The song, popular at sporting events, is "Rock and Roll, Part 2" by Gary Glitter. (Via the Forums.)
The latest Honda ad shows a black Civic Coupe parked at the beach and a guy is walking around it admiring the car. As he turns to leave he bumps into a girl. The song in the background is "Ocean Man" by Ween, off their album "The Mollusk."
Apple launched the long awaited iTunes for Windows software and service today. This brings the popular online music download store (featuring over 400,000 music tracks) to the Windows platform. The company hopes this will also drive further sales of their acclaimed MP3 player, the iPod. To advertise both iPod and iTunes, Apple has two new "Dancing Silhouettes" TV ads. The first spot features the song "Hey Mama" off the album Elephunk by the Black Eyed Peas. In the second, we hear "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" off the CD Get Born by the group Jet.
If you watch MTV, you've probably seen the ad promoting their up-coming "Sunday Stew" line-up. The new commercial starts off with an annoying Punk'd Ashton Kutcher singing "I want my MTV," followed by clips from new shows featuring JACKASS stars Bam Margera and Steve-O. (Respectively, their shows are called Viva la Bam and Wildboyz.) The song in the ad is called "Lack of Communication" by the Von Bondies, off their album "Lack of Communication."

Zelnorm
Women's navels haven't been this popular since low-rider jeans! The tv commercial for Zelnorm shows women lifting their shirts to reveal writing on their stomachs describing their IBS symtoms, accompanied by the song "E.V.A." by Jean-Jacques Perrey. The track is available on the album "Moog Indigo." (Via the Adtunes Forums!)
In a follow-up to Queen being featured in the Yahoo! Search ads, the Barry Manilow hit "Can't Smile Without You" is covered by Sean Beal in another version of the whimsical "search box" ads. You can find the new version of the song, oddly enough, on the soundtrack to DEUCE BIGALOW. (via our resourceful Forums!)
Surf guitar legend Dick Dale is seen in the latest Nissan Armada ad on the beach playing his famous song "Misirlou." You might also recognize this song from the PULP FICTION soundtrack.
After extensive searching and persistence, the Adtunes Forums members have cracked another popular ad music mystery! "What is the song in the Virgin Pulse ad from Target featuring British Royal Guards dancing around with MP3 players?" The song is an original composition made exclusively for the ad by the musician J. Ralph (aka "Spy"). A full-length version of the song isn't available, but will hopefully be released in the near future.

Kill Bill
With the upcoming release of Quentin Tarantino's film Kill Bill - Volume 1 on October 10th, you've probably been wondering about the cool song featured in the film's trailers and tv spots. The track is "Battle Without Honor or Humanity" by Tomoyasu Hotei and is available on the Kill Bill Soundtrack. This continues Tarantino's love of unique soundtrack music, following in the footsteps of his previous film soundtracks like Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs.
Lee Jeans "One True Fit" line has four commercials airing with great beats by Avia, the Mesmer A.V. production agency and the musician J. Ralph. You can watch all of the ads on the One True Fit website.
The fall TV season has plenty of original series premiering, but their theme songs might just be something familar. From the Isely Brothers singing for KAREN SISCO to Sugar Ray covering Joe Jackson for the I'M WITH HER theme song, there are several old favorites to sing along with this season.
With the upcoming release of The Matrix: Revolutions, you'll be seeing (and hearing) that green Matrix code everywhere. For example, you can hear an MP3 sample from composer Don Davis' Matrix Revolutions Soundtrack - the clip is from the track called Neodämmerung. If you'd like to learn more about music in and around The Matrix, don't forget to check out the excellent MatrixBeats website. And if you need to catch up before the final film's release, you can order The Matrix Reloaded DVD. (Just remember to fast forward through the "rave scene".)
